European Turfgrass Specialists Ltd (ETS) has been set up to deliver high quality agronomy services to all.

Head Agronomist – Philip Armitage
Philip Armitage is our main Turfgrass Advisor for the ETS. He initially started a greenkeeping career at his local private golf course Bingley St Ives. He is now, one of only twenty five individuals in Europe who are currently on the Register of Independent Professional Turfgrass Agronomists (RIPTA). Philip is BASIS qualified and continues to uphold his professional certification annually.
He previously worked for the STRI as a Turfgrass Agronomist for 5 years advising sports clubs on a wide variety of different agronomic matters.
Prior to establishing himself as a Turfgrass Agronomist, Philip worked as an Irrigation Manager in the South East of England.
He gained precious experience designing and contract managing irrigation systems for different clients, in various sporting venues such as bowling greens, football pitches, tennis courts, cricket squares, rugby pitches, golf courses, hockey pitches, agriculture and horticulture.
Philip holds a Bachelor in Science Degree in Turfgrass Science, coupled with a Higher National Diploma in Golf Course Management.
In addition to his extensive knowledge and experience in turfgrass science, irrigation and chemicals. Philip possesses over ten years first-hand experience working as a green keeper at some of the best golf courses around the world:
- The Belfry Golf Courses
- Pinehurst Golf Resort
- Westchester Golf & Country Club
- Wisley Golf Club
He was involved in tournament preparation, grow-ins and re-construction works at three of these courses and also to each of these courses as well as Dyne Kiliens Golf Klubb in Sweden.
